The best festive afternoon tea in London

Festive tea.jpg

From the month of November I have felt myself exposed to a large number of articles recommending the best place to go for afternoon tea in London. I was excited to try out some of these new afternoon tea’s as it seemed like almost every venue had a special festive menu on.

Most of the afternoon tea’s launched their menus from mid-November and will continue to run until early January. Make sure when you are booking to state if you would like to take the festive afternoon tea or the standard seasonal menu. The Sanderson Hotel also has a festive afternoon tea which is available on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. This is only the hotel that I have come across which only offers it on these days.

You may have been expecting to see a longer list of recommendations but the truth is a lot of venues put their prices up over the festive period so it is hard to recommend some of them because they simply aren’t good value for money. The food is essentially the same as the seasonal menu with some tweaks with a £20 extra charge added. Call me cynical but I can’t recommend somewhere that where that adds to the price tag in the sake of generating higher profits at Christmas time.

I have recommended a smattering of places on my Instagram but the two stand-out places for me are JW Marriott Grosvenor House Park Lane priced at £55.50 and the Orange Pekoes which is priced at £28pp. Both of these are very reasonably priced for the quality of food, tea and setting. Of course, this is my opinion, but I know that if you took my recommendation for these that you would have a lovely time.
